Power BI Published Project - Unable to Refresh - Missing Authentication Method

Hello,

I am trying to refresh my published power BI project where my database is an Excel Online file, found under my organizational Microsoft account files and folders.

When I try to refresh or schedule a refresh, I am getting an error saying that the provided credentials are not correct, however my Excel online credentials and my Power BI credentials are the same.

I have used the organizational account sign in method on Power BI desktop to connect to my data source, but in the web interface where my published project is, I cannot seem to find that login method when I try to refresh.

here below is a screenshot taken from there:

Only the options that are seen in the screenshot are available as "Authentication Method", but I need to have "Organizational Account" available.
If that is not possible, please let me know what other way is there to establish the connection.

thank  you

Hey @RabihGerges ,

You have to use OAuth2 to connect to your Web based Excel file. It requires you to provide your email (the same you use to login into Power BI Service), something like [email protected].

Hopefully, this provides what you are looking for.

Tom

Thank you for the help @TomMartens ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Please note that we had to also remove the "x:\r:\" section from the links of the Excel Online files that we are using as data source for the OAuth2 authentication method to be accepted by PowerBI.
Thought I'd mention it here for your reference!

Many Thanks,

Rabih
